I am always ready to sacrifice myself before the members of the Zagreb SDP, said tonight the president of the SDP City Committee Davor Bernardić, after this party organization supported the decision of the SDP Presidency and confirmed Rajko Ostojić as the party candidate for the mayor of Zagreb instead of Bernardić.
– I am always ready to sacrifice myself before the members of the Zagreb SDP and I do not want the Zagreb SDP to be a hostage to the situation and the dispute over who should be the candidate in the local elections – said Bernardić to reporters.
He emphasized that the City Committee, at his proposal, unanimously supported the decision of the party leadership and confirmed Ostojić as the mayoral candidate, ‘because the unity and strength of the SDP are my top priority, far before personal ambition’.
Bernardić stressed that he is confident in the victory of the SDP in the local elections in May next year, and that the Zagreb SDP members will firmly stand behind Ostojić as the party candidate for mayor.
He also expressed his belief that, although it may not seem so today, a time for young people is coming in Croatia, and that young people will also get their chance.
– I invite them to stay here in Zagreb and Croatia, to build a better future together, not to go abroad, although that opportunity will open up for them – emphasized Bernardić.
