German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble believes that the peak of the debt crisis in the eurozone, which has lasted for three years, has already passed, highlighting positive developments in Greece and France.
-I think the worst is behind us- Schaeuble stated in an interview with the German Bild, which will be published on Friday.
-The government in Athens knows that it must not overburden other eurozone member states. Therefore, it continues with reforms- he added.
He also expressed optimism regarding the pace of reforms in France, saying that Paris is ‘well aware that every country must constantly implement reforms to remain competitive’.
Reflecting on the German economy, Schaeuble stated that he expects a ‘decent’ growth rate next year, thanks to trade with the USA and Asia.
