The Minister of Energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlović, announced that the ministry will present a restructuring plan for the company Srbijagas in January.
– We are all aware that some things will have to change in Srbijagas – said the minister, adding that she is eagerly awaiting the report from the State Audit Institution on the operations of Srbijagas, after which there will be more discussions about the company.
According to the proposed laws, the state should guarantee the total amount of 200 million euros for the indebtedness of Srbijagas, in favor of Credit Swiss Bank, Vojvođanska Bank, UniCredit Bank, and Deutsche Bank.
The new borrowing of the company has been criticized by MPs from LDP and DS S, who reminded that the Assembly of Serbia adopted another law regarding the indebtedness of Srbijagas in the amount of 190 million euros less than a month ago.
– How many loans does this assembly need to determine for Srbijagas to survive, and how long will the state cover someone’s irresponsible business operations? It is irresponsible for the Assembly to approve the ratification of huge loans to this company without an analysis of how much it is actually indebted… Who will be responsible for this and who will pay these funds – asked Milan Lapčević from DS S.
Since the parliament is also discussing providing state guarantees for Galenika and Jat Airways in the total amount of 25 million euros, the MPs from DSS stated that they are fundamentally not against borrowings related to investments, such as the borrowing for South Stream, but that the borrowings for these two companies are absolutely unacceptable.
