On the occasion of marking the end of the business year at the traditional Christmas gathering held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, Ericsson Nikola Tesla announced its three socially beneficial projects for this year.
The significant socially responsible projects this year are: A Code of Conduct for Better Understanding of Persons with Disabilities, a donation for demining mine-affected areas in the village of Smiljan, west of the Nikola Tesla Museum, and a partnership on the project of the Center for Rural Health in the Sisak-Moslavina County.
At the initiative of the Association for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities, Ericsson Nikola Tesla was the main partner and sponsor in the development of the Code of Conduct for Better Understanding of Persons with Disabilities. The company, along with significant financial resources, donated the work of its experts who voluntarily edited, prepared, and graphically designed the Code, which follows Darko, a student at the Faculty of Education, a person with a disability, in his daily life. Darko teaches us through various life situations how to better understand persons with disabilities and thus contribute to mutual respect and understanding and the integration of all people in society regardless of differences. The Code is primarily intended for young people, but also for all other individuals who wish to learn how to better understand the needs of persons with disabilities and thus contribute to their equal position in society.
Ericsson Nikola Tesla recognized the problem of mined areas as an obstacle to the development of the economy and society, the implementation of nature protection, and the free movement of people, and has participated in the demining of Croatia in previous years. This year, in cooperation with the Office for Demining of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the company secured funds for demining mine-affected areas in the village of Smiljan, west of the Nikola Tesla Museum. Prof. Dr. Dijana Pleština, director of the Government Office for Demining, expressed gratitude for the donation and emphasized that the demining work in Croatia is not yet finished and asked other Croatian companies to join in solving this significant problem left over from the Homeland War.
Ericsson Nikola Tesla is a partner of the Center for Rural Health Sjeverovac on the project utilizing Ericsson’s solution for remote mobile health monitoring of rural residents in the Sisak-Moslavina County. The company provided the Center with valuable Ericsson Mobile Health equipment for remote patient monitoring, which is essential for achieving the project’s goals that include a program of health care measures and standardization of interventions for health protection. Prof. Dr. Rajko Ostojić, Minister of Health of the Republic of Croatia, emphasized in his speech that the goals of the Ministry of Health are clearly defined. First and foremost, it is important to improve the quality of services and the efficiency of the system, and mobile health technology can assist in this.
