We can think whatever we want about banks, but the fact is that some are breaking myths, and that in times when we would least expect it.
After the acquisition of Rijeka Bank ten years ago, Erste has exclusively grown organically to reach third place in the banking rankings while simultaneously breaking myths about banks as conservative fortresses. Not only did it engage first on social media, but during the capital market downturn, it is also trying to revive it by trading certificates (for which it received an award for promoting the development of the capital market). However, the capital market is still in the background. Years of GDP decline and the collapse of the real sector are forcing the bank to deal with the restructuring of corporate clients. How? The details are discussed in the new issue of Lider, where Gordana GelenĨer spoke with Boris Centner, a member of the Management Board of Erste Bank.
They also discussed the large real estate portfolio of banks in light of the announcement of property taxation, and Centner explained how the bank’s business policies are not aimed at acquiring assets and long-term ownership of them.
– In practice, this applies to a smaller number of cases in specific situations when all other options for collecting the receivable on the loan have been exhausted – said Centner.
