Health Minister Rajko Ostojić is the joint candidate of HNS and SDP for the mayor of Zagreb.
Although it has not yet been officially confirmed, media reports suggest that HNS and SDP have reached an agreement.
This comes ahead of today’s meeting of the SDP Presidency, where the party leadership may propose that Minister Rajko Ostojić enter the race instead of Davor Bernardić.
Bernardić’s candidacy seems to have been decided by a poll conducted in early November, which shows he is trailing Milan Bandić by ten percent, who has the support of 33 percent of Zagreb residents.
Milan Bandić stated yesterday that he wishes his former party to overcome this candidate crisis as soon as possible and to present a candidate as soon as possible. Regarding candidates, I want there to be as many as possible, as this is good for democracy, not only in Zagreb but also in Croatia. I also want other political options to present the best possible candidates, as new value is born in this joint political competition, he added.
