Interior Minister Ranko Ostojić stated today that he cannot speak about the case of the alleged secret surveillance of the Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajić and eight journalists at the order of former Police Director Oliver Grbić because he ‘currently does not have the data’.
– At this moment, I do not have the data to provide you with any answers – said Minister Ostojić to reporters after the opening of the Fourth Conference of the Croatian Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction. When asked by reporters whether he would initiate an investigation, he said that the answer to that question would be provided by the Police Directorate.
According to ‘Novy list’, former Police Director Oliver Grbić ordered the secret surveillance of Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajić and eight journalists last year, ahead of the parliamentary elections. The police monitored Bajić and the journalists through direct surveillance and phone contact records, with the formal reason being the leaking of information during the investigation of the HDZ in the Fimi Media case.
