Miljenić announced the establishment of a land court at the national level

At today’s session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak presented the Proposal for the Law on the Electricity Market.

Speaking about the novelties regulated by this law, he emphasized the division of energy activities into those performed as a public service, which includes the universal service of electricity supply, ensuring safe and quality energy supply in the Republic of Croatia, as well as the development of the electricity market and price competitiveness.

– Special attention is paid to consumer protection as well as efficient energy production and use, where, of course, environmental protection is also taken into account – said the minister.

The Croatian Parliament received the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Maternity and Parental Benefits, which is aligned with European Union directives. – This is about the fact that we had to regulate the non-transferable part of parental leave. This is the part that fathers could use to spend more time with their children and participate more in their upbringing and development – explained Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy and Youth Milanka Opačić, adding that with this amendment, those two months are not transferable to the other parent. Likewise, this law equalizes the rights of adoptive and parental leave.

There was also a discussion on the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Electronic Media, which, according to Minister of Culture Andrea Zlatar Violić, is aligned with the Law on General Administrative Procedure and the Law on Administrative Disputes. It also defines the status of non-profit audiovisual and radio programs as well as non-profit electronic publications. It regulates the possibility of co-financing programs and content from the Fund for Encouraging Pluralism and Diversity of Electronic Media in such a way that, in addition to co-financing existing programs, co-financing of the so-called third media sector, non-profit media, i.e., electronic publications and internet portals is introduced.

The Parliament received the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Land Registers.
– This is one of the structural laws by which we intend to influence the improvement of services provided by the judiciary – stated Minister of Justice Orsat Miljenić.

Milanka Opačić, Boris Pleša, and Antun Guljaš, on behalf of the Union of State and Local Officials, added that this law will lead to a significant acceleration of procedures, as well as increased legal certainty. He announced the establishment of a high land registry court, which means that all appeal procedures at the national level will go to one court.
– The law will also affect other civil procedures where the capacity at county courts will be freed up – said the minister.

Prime Minister Zoran Milanović called on all members of the Government to check their obligations to the Commission for Preventing Conflicts of Interest so that any potential omissions do not provide grounds for criticism, neither from well-meaning individuals nor, especially, from malicious ones, who do not see the beam of revolution in their own eye but seek the speck in someone else’s.

– Every possibility of doubt should be eliminated, even in cases like the last one, with Minister Jakovina’s company, which should not have happened, and although there is nothing in a material sense, there is no conflict of interest because his company has not been operating for a long time, everything must be done to ensure that laws are formally respected. Let us be strict, very cautious, and formal in these matters – concluded the Prime Minister.
