German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated on Monday that she still cannot remove the ‘danger sign’ from the eurozone crisis and that she is cautiously optimistic about the situation, reports AFP.
– I still cannot completely remove the danger sign, I am cautiously optimistic – said the Chancellor in an interview with RTL in Oslo, where she attended the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony awarded to the European Union. With these words, she commented on the statement by French President Francois Hollande, who said that the euro crisis is ‘behind us’.
– I believe that the international community has understood that we will defend the euro – she added and assessed that ‘reforms must continue in numerous countries’ and that it will take time before the EU regains its competitiveness.
