-I have met many people who are creative and opening new markets, says Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts Gordan Maras.
In an interview with Novi list, he cites the Međimurje company Tehnix, which is signing a contract worth 20 million euros in Egypt these days.
-They are innovators and will have a great opportunity in the European Union markets. It is important for the state to support entrepreneurs, but without ideas, nothing will happen, no matter what conditions we create, says Maras. He notes that we are currently in a situation where the main players in interest associations are large companies that do not have much ambition for investment at this moment.
-They are foreign-owned, doing well, and do not have the ambition to improve things as quickly as we need, Maras reminds.
He adds that the role of companies like HT is significant and that they must work with the state on investments in the IT sector.
-The situation here is not satisfactory, and companies should not be content with their market position and only good profits year after year. Investing in good service returns part of the value to society as a whole, from which they also benefit, emphasizes the minister.
He states that the telecom sector does not invest enough.
-We can talk about the motives, but I think they are satisfied with their results and position, so they do not see the need to invest further at this moment, says Maras.
When asked what should happen, in which HT does not participate, the minister points out that Croatia has received its third data center in Jastrebarsko, where the state was present as an investor through FGS.
-It is incredible that such a quality center will not have any company from the telecom sector, including the largest in Croatia, says Maras.
He notes that in Germany, a data center 30 times larger is being built, but there, the investor is Deutsche Telekom.
-Such investments are difficult to achieve without quality infrastructure in data transmission. The interest should not only be to have good profits in Croatia but also to develop their sector in Croatia. This must be clear to companies that are leaders in certain branches; they cannot only be leaders in profit but also in investments, concluded Maras.
