Unlike any teenager in the music industry, Jake Bugg surprised everyone with his self-titled debut album inspired by the music of the 50s and 60s. The first two songs on the album, ‘Lightning Bolt’ and ‘Two Fingers’, are charming stories in a cheerful rhythm with a retro sound that, like any good look into the past, carries the hallmark of contemporary pop and rock industry. ‘Country Song’, the second single from the album, significantly slows down the tempo, putting Jake and his guitar in the foreground, thus creating a thoughtful, quiet, and warm experience that captivates the listener regardless of their opinion on country music. Bugg is the author and co-author of all the songs on the album, writing wisely and unpretentiously about authentic experiences, which makes the album fresh, youthful, and different.
