The situation with the Našički fishpond ‘Miagro’ d.o.o. and the endangered workers has not improved, even though the PPDIV Union requested the High Administrative Court to urgently resolve their case, but to date they have not received a response. Meanwhile, the union has been provided with a list of surplus workers who will be dismissed at the end of this year.
This was highlighted at a protest in front of the company’s management, held today organized by the Osijek regional office of the PPDIV Union, where workers expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of resolution of their case by the competent institutions of the Republic of Croatia.
The problem lies in unresolved ownership relations. The agony has lasted since the return of property to the heirs of Pejačević. The fishpond was purchased after bankruptcy by Našički entrepreneur Mladen Mihalj, who renewed production, invested in new facilities, secured salaries, but then further development was halted by the state. If ownership is not resolved, incentives cannot be realized nor can further development take place.
The company director reported that of the 36 employees, if nothing is done, only two or three will remain, emphasizing that the fishpond has potential. Evidence of this is that a fish processing program was financed from the IPARD program, and all prerequisites for development have been created.
Therefore, the union has sent another letter to the Administrative Court and appealed for this problem to be resolved by the end of the year.
The Pejačević family has already provided their statement and agrees that the property should be returned to the owner of the fishpond, but it is the state that is currently obstructing the resolution of this entire situation, stated the regional commissioner of PPDIV, Šimo Orešković.
