A total of 11,133 entrepreneurs in Croatia’s manufacturing industry generated total revenues of 123.05 billion kuna in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year, while their total expenses of 110.3 billion kuna rose by 0.8 percent, resulting in a gross profit of 12.7 billion kuna, which increased by 1.9 percent.
Data from the Financial Agency simultaneously shows that entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry invested 4.7 billion kuna in fixed assets in the first nine months of this year, which is 2.2 percent less than in the same period last year.
The operation of the manufacturing industry is of exceptional importance for the Croatian economy, employing the highest number of people, totaling 224,752, which accounts for 26.6 percent of the total number of employees among entrepreneurs.
In the structure of the Croatian economy, entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry contributed 26.8 percent to the total revenues of entrepreneurs subject to corporate income tax, 25.4 percent to total expenses, 50.6 percent to gross profit, and 17.4 percent to total investments in fixed assets in the first nine months of this year.
Due to a greater increase in revenues than in expenses, the efficiency of operations has increased – the economy of entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry has resulted in 111.52 kuna of revenue for every 100 kuna invested, compared to 111.39 kuna from the nine months of 2011.
Increased operational efficiency, or increased economy, is the reason for the rise in gross profit, or the surplus of revenue over expenses, by 1.9 percent.
However, it is noted by Fina that not all entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry operated positively; 6,694 or 60.1 percent of the total number had gross profit in the first nine months of this year, while 4,439 or 39.9 percent had gross loss.
Employees in the manufacturing industry were paid average net salaries of 4,688 kuna, which nominally increased by 1.1 percent compared to the nine months of last year, but are still slightly lower than the average for employees among all entrepreneurs in Croatia, which is 4,703 kuna.
