Dismissed Management of HAC

The Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Siniša Hajdaš Dončić, has decided to dismiss the entire management of Hrvatske autoceste – President Dražen Guštin and three members, Nikola Bačurin, Jure Bajić, and Narcis Dalsas.

According to Večernji list, the reason is the failure of the restructuring program that was not implemented, which was presented back in August. HAC has thus become the first company in the state and public sector where the entire management appointed by the Kukuriku coalition has been dismissed. The four-member management of HAC was appointed at the end of February this year and managed to hold on for nine months. The new management of this state company will consist of the current director of the legal and general affairs sector, Marijan Sente, and the director of toll collection, Davor Mihovilić. The two of them have recently been tasked with developing a new restructuring program for HAC, as the one from the dismissed management has proven to be irrelevant and dead letters on paper. According to that program, HAC was supposed to lay off 200 of the total 2822 employees by the end of the year, establish a subsidiary company to transfer toll collection and maintenance activities, transfer workers there, and then merge it with a similar subsidiary established by the company Autocesta Rijeka – Zagreb. However, that will not happen as it turned out that HAC’s management has only initiated the establishment of the subsidiary since August, and since there are only a few weeks left until the end of the year, it is impossible to transfer workers to it and merge it with ARZ’s company by the end of the year.

 Hajdaš Dončić was angered by the HAC leaders, whom he was not satisfied with anyway, when he discovered that they had, to put it mildly, hidden the truth about the implementation of the restructuring program from him. He only recently learned that the deadlines would not be met, even though they had been telling him all along that everything was under control. He also discovered that the number of 200 people, which was stated as surplus in that company, was determined arbitrarily without analysis. Only later was a list of those who are surplus compiled, and the criterion for that, insiders claim, was political suitability and personal sympathies of those who determine who is surplus.
