Viro has informed that the decision of the Minister of Agriculture regarding the allocation of sugar production rights for the marketing year 2013/2014 will significantly impact their plans and revenues.
As they note, the allocation whereby Viro is assigned 57,863 tons, while the Sugar Factory Osijek and Sladorana from Županja are assigned 67,507 tons each, significantly deviates from the method of distributing sugar production rights according to the rules and practices of European Union member states.
They state that they are not aware of the criteria Jakovina used in his decision on the allocation, nor was anything substantively mentioned in his explanation.
-We believe that such a decision undermines fair market competition and causes direct harm to the Viro sugar factory, and in this regard, Viro will take all legal actions to protect its interests, concluded the company.
