The City of Dubrovnik has signed a contract for the implementation of the INTourAct project for tourism development funded by EU funds, with a total value of 1,371,500 euros, and the City of Dubrovnik has received 116,900 euros in non-repayable funds.
The objectives of this project are to extend the tourist season and develop tourism in rural and suburban areas in accordance with the concept of sustainable development, aiming to reduce pressure on tourist centers.
The City of Dubrovnik, by investing in infrastructure, developing tourism offerings on agricultural farms, developing rural and eco-tourism as a new tourist product, preserving the environment, and applying ecological standards, will enable safe development and retention of the population in rural areas, it was stated.
The INTourAct project will balance the development of the tourist region and, along with stronger urban development, stimulate sustainable economic development of often neglected urban areas, taking into account the local specificities of the area itself.
The duration of this project is 24 months, and partners include the City of Glina from Croatia, the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency SERDA, the Business Center Kranj from Slovenia, the Municipality of Blagoevgrad from Bulgaria, the Municipality of Kavala from Greece, the Regional Development Company Western Pannonia, and the Development Coordination Agency Lake Balaton from Hungary, as well as the provinces of Rimini Campobasso and the City of Lecce from Italy.
