Marijan Filipović, the owner of the woodworking company Finvest from Čabar and one of the richest Croats, has decided to leave all his assets to the Marijan Filipović Foundation.
This decision was publicly announced by Filipović at a ceremony marking his 79th birthday at one of Finvest’s factories in Prezid. – I have secured my children in a decent way, so I was guided by the fact that they are taken care of, and I want to leave a part to this region where I live – Filipović said to Lider. Until now, the Foundation has been engaged in scholarship programs for students from Gorski Kotar and had a value of one million euros. From now on, its value will be incomparably greater and, according to Filipović’s vision, it should serve as a driver for the development of the Gorski region.
Besides the woodworking company Finvest, which has recently been facing business and financial problems, Filipović’s business empire includes Hotels Njivice on Krk, and to a lesser extent, he is also involved in construction, energy, and agriculture. A search is underway for a strategic partner for the hotel business, which should financially stabilize the woodworking activity.
Filipović, by the way, parted ways with his son this summer regarding the further direction of the company, so Marin Filipović was removed from the position of CEO of Finvest and now has no connection to his father’s business. The new CEO of Finvest is the current mayor of Čabar, Željko Erent (HDZ), who was once a member of the Finvest Management Board.
