Robert Ježić, the crown witness of USKOK in the trial against former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, has not yet paid five million euros into the state budget, although he promised the court a month ago that he would do so by today.
At the Zagreb County Court, it has been learned that Ježić was not supposed to pay the money by today, but rather within 15 days of the finality of the verdict, that is, if the Supreme Court confirms the first-instance verdict against Sanader, who was sentenced last week to 10 years in prison for the Hypo and Ina-Mol case.
In the event that Ježić does not pay the money then, which he claims was MOL’s bribe to Sanader, the amount would be collected through enforcement, the court explains.
A month ago, Ježić told Judge Ivan Turudić at the trial of Sanader in the Hypo and Ina-Mol case that the money was in the account of his Swiss company Dioki holding, of which he is the 100% owner.
He explained that he had not paid the money by then because he had not received any precise instructions on how to do so. Judge Ivan Turudić first told him to do it the same day, but Ježić told him that he could not and that he would do it within a maximum of 30 days.
Spokesman for the Zagreb County Court Krešimir Devčić said that this was an appeal from the judge in the context of Ježić’s testimony, who stated that the money was transferred to the account of his company in Switzerland.
According to Ježić’s claims, five million euros were paid into his account by the Hungarian oil company Mol as a bribe to Sanader for taking over management rights in Ina.
Sanader, on the other hand, claims that Ježić received the money for lobbying for Družba Adria and that he spent it on the recapitalization of Dioki.
