Bandić is building three more fountains and four underpasses

Mayor Milan Bandić, accompanied by his associates, visited today the construction site of two underpasses and two fountains on the Street of the Croatian Brotherhood, near the National and University Library, which will be put into trial operation on December 16.

The value of the project is 18.5 million kuna, and it includes the construction of two fountains and two underpasses as a connection between the National and University Library and Trnje, as well as the infrastructure that will be necessary for the future construction of three more fountains and four underpasses, which are in the conceptual design phase.

Expressing pride in the construction of the two fountains, Bandić stated that the construction of three more will follow and emphasized that the fountains are being built in memory of Croatia’s entry into the European Union.
– This will be a European fountain for a European Croatia – now I have revealed why we are doing this – said Mayor Bandić to reporters after visiting the construction site and highlighted that this will be a project of the vision of the current City Administration and our fellow citizens on Lenuci’s Horseshoe.

– This will be the most beautiful horseshoe in the world, Lenuci’s. Lenuci had a vision to integrate this into Zagreb, and to integrate Zagreb into Lenuci’s horseshoe, and we have a vision to develop a project on that horseshoe that my namesake Lenuci would be proud of – emphasized Bandić, who treated the workers who have been working almost non-stop for the last two weekends.

The first two fountains will be put into trial operation on December 16, and after three months of monitoring their operation, the fountains should receive a usage permit.

Project manager architect Ivan Valek stated that through these fountains, Zagreb will be recognized in the world and assessed that with their construction, ‘that space will come to life, squares will emerge where more events will be held, and during the winter, skating will also be enabled.’
