PHOTO: Awards for Manager of the Year Presented

At the Westin Hotel in Zagreb, under the patronage of the President of Croatia, Ivo Josipović, and in partnership with the Zagreb County, the 22nd meeting of the Croatian Association of Managers and Entrepreneurs, CROMA 2012, was held.

As part of the all-day program, which was attended by around three hundred businesspeople from across Croatia, a thematic conference titled ‘The Responsibility of Managers and Entrepreneurs in the Application of the New Financial, Enforcement, and Criminal Law’ was also held. The central event was marked by the presentation of the professional award ‘Manager of the Year 2012,’ which is awarded to the most successful managers and entrepreneurs in various categories.

This year, over 40 nominations were received, and the award winners were selected by last year’s laureates and the HUM-CROMA Management Board. The awards were granted based on documented balances and actual qualitative indicators of business performance such as market share, the number of newly created or preserved jobs. The awards were presented by Vladimir Ferdelji, President of the Croatian Association of Managers and Entrepreneurs, and Alojzije Šestan, last year’s recipient of the CROMA Lifetime Achievement Award and Director of Šestan-Busch. Along with this prestigious award, entrepreneurs were given the additional burden of trying to achieve it again next year and to continue promoting socially responsible business practices, said the President’s advisor, Boris Cota, at the ceremony.

The weekly Lider has been confirmed as ‘Undoubtedly the Best’ by numerous studies, awards, and recognitions, and tonight, one of the founders of Lider press d.d. also received the most prestigious recognition for his work. The Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 award, according to the HUM-CROMA Management Board, was awarded to co-owner and co-founder of Lider press, Miodrag Šajatović, and Mante Mandić, owner of IN2.

In the large enterprises category, the CROMA award was given to Stanislav Biondić, a member of the Management Board of Belupo, for medium-sized enterprises Martin Halusek, Director of Kvasac, and Antun Presečki, owner of Presečki Group. In the small enterprises category, the awards were given to Ivan Matejašić, co-owner of Spin IT Engineering, and Zdravko Runtas, Director of IGO-MAT. The Manager of the Year 2012 award in the public enterprises category was awarded to Odete Sapač, Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Rovinj, and Ljubomir Novoselić, President of the Management Board of Vodovod-Osijek. The CROMA award in the foreign enterprises category was awarded to Zoran Uranjek, a member of the Management Board of Harburg-Freudenberger Belišće. The Project Manager award was given to Darko Šketa, President of the Management Board of Pevec, and Boris Žgomba, Director of Uniline. In the young manager category, the Anton Nino Cerin award was given to Miroslav Mrša, owner of Modo interior studio. The CROMA Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Stjepan Hrešć, owner of the Hrešić Holding Group, and Šime Vidulin, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy for Regional Development.

The Manager of the Year award has been received by 165 of the best Croatian businesspeople so far, and it has been awarded since 1992. The award ceremony was attended by Damir Fašajić, Head of the Economy Department of Zagreb County, President’s advisor Boris Cota, and numerous Croatian businesspeople.
