Davor Bernardić has called on the city authorities to enable the citizens of Zagreb, especially students and tourists, to access free internet as soon as possible.
The President of the Zagreb City Assembly, Davor Bernardić, emphasized the importance of better connecting the educational and scientific sectors today at the ceremonial celebration of the Day of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) in Zagreb, in order for Zagreb to acquire a new technological identity as soon as possible. He also urged the city authorities to provide free internet access as soon as possible, especially for students.
“Zagreb’s students, tourists, and all other citizens should be able to access the internet for free in the broader city center. This is a project that can be realized very quickly, within a few months, all to develop Zagreb into a true tourist metropolis, where young people and other citizens have everything they need for a more pleasant life and work,” Bernardić stated.
He emphasized that free internet should especially be introduced near all educational institutions. “I believe that the Assembly will support this idea and that funds for this project will be secured in the next budget,” he added.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) is the institution with the longest tradition in educating professionals in these fields in Croatia. Supporting this fact are more than 18,000 graduated engineers, over 2,200 master’s degrees, and more than 700 doctoral degrees obtained at FER.
