In the first ten months of this year, excellent tourist results have been achieved in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County – a ten percent increase in tourist arrivals and a twelve percent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year, it was highlighted at today’s meeting of the Tourist Council of the County Tourist Board.
At the meeting chaired by Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić, the tourist results of 2012 and the plans and problems expected in 2013 were discussed.
They also talked about the problems in tourism in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County for the coming year, highlighting the new regime at border crossings following Croatia’s entry into the European Union. One part of the problem relates to the visa regime for tourists from Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey, while another concerns the border crossing at Neum and at the Karasovići border crossing between Croatia and Montenegro, as well as the possibility that increased control could significantly slow down border crossing.
Another issue is that the shipping company Jadrolinija has not published routes for the next year, which complicates and prevents guest reservations and leaves the impression that there will be none. It was decided to send a letter to the Ministry of Tourism outlining these issues.
Participants in the meeting emphasized that during discussions with Minister of Tourism Veljko Ostojić, these problems were addressed, and the minister promised that he would “take some actions” to overcome or alleviate them.
