The Competition Protection Agency has approved state aid for the cinematographic and audiovisual activities contained in the State Aid Program for the allocation of funds to promote audiovisual creation as they are in accordance with the aid regulations.
The provider of state aid is the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC), which could allocate 100 million kuna planned funds in the form of subsidies to entrepreneurs for the production of audiovisual works over the next two years, as stipulated by the duration of the Program, until December 31, 2014, based on the conducted competition. These funds are to be allocated from the budget of the Ministry of Culture and HAVC.
Entrepreneurs can receive up to 50 percent of eligible costs for individual audiovisual works, except in exceptional cases, in the case of producing a difficult (demanding) low-budget audiovisual work, when the intensity of state aid can be increased to a maximum of 80 percent of eligible costs.
Eligible costs are specified in the Program and relate to costs incurred in all phases of production of individual audiovisual works (development, preparation, production, and post-production).
HAVC has demonstrated to the Agency that the allocation of aid for the creation of film works through this Program is aimed at the development of cinematographic and other audiovisual activities. The cultural content of the product is evaluated based on the Qualification Test. State aid from this Program cannot be allocated to entrepreneurs in difficulty, and HAVC is obliged to submit a Report on the allocation of state aid to the Agency throughout the duration of the Program.
