Prominent Business Women at the Second Meeting ‘Women in Business 2012’

‘Do you see the glass ceiling’ and ‘Is there a non-feminine job’ are the main themes of the second meeting ‘Women in Business 2012’ organized by Lider and co-organized by EBRD, taking place on December 6 at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb.

After the successful meeting last year, this year will again gather owners, directors, and managers of companies, as well as initiators of successful projects in the region, whose experiences and views on business will demonstrate that they are unjustly overlooked in high positions in most companies.

The main guests of the meeting are Ljerka Puljić, Senior Executive Vice President of the Strategic Business Group and Marketing at Agrokor, Mani Gotovac, a successful critic, dramaturge, theater scholar, and writer, and Dragijana Radonjić Petrović, Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance and Economy from Serbia. In ‘One on One’ discussions, they will reveal how they achieved a remarkable career and position, how they balanced career and family, and what motivated them to continue despite obstacles.

The introduction to the conference and lively discussions will feature a lecture ‘A New Look at Career’ by Dorothy Dalton, co-founder of 3Plus International from Brussels, which focuses on international development and bringing women into managerial positions in well-known global companies. Her rich experience from the international recruitment market and practical advice for businesswomen will surely be beneficial for participants on their path to their desired goals.

The first panel ‘Do you see the glass ceiling’ is a discussion about the obstacles that women in Croatia must overcome to take on responsible roles in companies. It will feature women whose recommendations and experiences will be useful to all ambitious women in the audience.
The second panel ‘Is there a non-feminine job’ gathers women who are very successful in fields considered predominantly ‘male’. Their enviable careers will break the stereotype that there is no place for women in such fields and show how women can be very successful regardless of the job they do.

Although there are numerous examples of women successfully managing the largest global companies, especially in crisis conditions, their share in overall senior and higher management is quite modest. That is why the business weekly Lider, by organizing this meeting, aims to highlight successful experiences, gather and connect businesswomen from the region, encourage them to take on new ventures, and thus help increase the representation of women in the highest positions. The meeting will also mark the presentation of the traditional Lider list of the 300 most powerful women in Croatian business, published for the eighth time.
