Qatar is ready to sign a one billion euro agreement with Italy for investment in small and medium-sized Italian companies, said the Prime Minister of the Gulf state, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, today.
Qatar will provide half of the funds for this purpose, Sheikh Hamad stated at a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, who is visiting the region.
At the same time, today the Italian Strategic Investment Fund (FSI) and Qatar Holding signed an agreement for a joint investment of up to 2 billion euros in Italian companies. According to the agreement, both parties will invest equal amounts in the first four years, specifically in the food and tourism sectors, as well as fashion and furniture industries.
