This year’s 8th Days of Young Olive Oil were opened in Vodnjan, and the three-day event gathered around eighty exhibitors with more than 200 samples of olive oil.
In addition to oil producers, olive growers, cheese producers, prosciutto makers, souvenir vendors of olive wood, lavender products, and many others will also be presented until Sunday.
Addressing the participants of the event, the Mayor of Vodnjan, Klaudio Vitasović, reminded that this event started modestly eight years ago and that interest has grown year after year.
“Olive oil is a symbol of peace, so let this day be dedicated to thoughts of peace, friendship, and love for all who live in this country regardless of faith, nation, and gender,” said Istrian County Prefect Ivan Jakovčić, adding that in the last 20 years, “a wonderful story has happened in modern Istria that has succeeded as it was envisioned.” At the fair, alongside exhibitors from Croatia, guests from Serbia with šljivovica, as well as from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Italy are participating for the first time.
