Prime Minister Zoran Milanović also commented on the acquittal of Generals Markač and Gotovina.
– It is obviously about two innocent people, but that does not mean that the war was not difficult, bloody, and just as far as Croatia is concerned. In that war, there were mistakes for which the Croatian state is responsible, not Markač and Gotovina, and that must not be forgotten at this moment. Thank you to Markač and Gotovina for enduring so much for Croatia. It will be hard to explain – said Prime Minister Milanović after the acquittal of the generals.
We are overjoyed, General Ante Gotovina thanks everyone who helped make this happen. Justice has been served, announced Gotovina’s lawyer Luka Mišetić on his Twitter profile.
The Minister of Defense Ante Kotromanović and the Minister of Veterans Predrag Matić are going to The Hague by government aircraft to pick up Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markač.
– We’re going for the guys, it’s time for them to come home – said Minister Matić. This is the end, we are proud of the Croatian defenders, this is important for Croatia – we only defended what is ours – the whole world knows that now, he added.
