The Croatian Trade Union Association (HUS) today requested Prime Minister Zoran Milanović to appoint a qualified person for the key Ministry of Economy as soon as possible, who will have the necessary capacities for the difficult tasks that await them.
– Considering the urgent need for positive changes in the economy, without which we face further deepening of the crisis and additional painful cuts that workers, the unemployed, and pensioners can hardly bear, we ask that you appoint a person with the necessary capacities for the difficult tasks that await them for the key Ministry of Economy as soon as possible – it is emphasized in HUS’s statement.
They believe, and in this, they say they are not alone, that ‘the seriousness of the situation in which the country finds itself requires a departure from the established practice of political staffing and the acceptance of expertise and previous results as the only criteria for selecting a new Minister of Economy.’ Such a move, they believe in HUS, would undoubtedly resonate positively with potential investors as well as the domestic and foreign public and business circles.
– In an undeniably difficult moment for the coalition government you lead, show the responsibility that citizens expect from you. The selection of a qualified Minister of Economy would mean that the government is ready to prioritize the state interest over the coalition’s interest, which citizens of this country increasingly doubt – emphasize HUS.
