The Ministry of Tourism Sent First Invoices for Land Concessions

The Ministry of Tourism has so far sent invoices for land concessions to ten companies/hotel-tourism firms for 31 applications for camps, with a total value of these invoices amounting to 22.24 million kuna, and the remaining invoices for about 50 more applications will be sent in the next two weeks, it is learned from the Ministry of Tourism.

The first invoices for land concessions were sent by the Ministry of Tourism at the end of October to companies that submitted applications for the approval of concessions for the use of land not appraised in the process of transformation and privatization in camps and other tourist settlements.

The Ministry received 95 applications from 50 companies for concessions for land on which camps are located, with a total land area of 14 million square meters, and 84 applications met the necessary conditions prescribed by law.
The total amount of all invoices is 50.2 million kuna, relating to the fixed and variable part of the concession fee for 2011 and the fixed part of the concession fee for 2012, the Ministry explains.
So far, invoices have been sent for 31 applications to ten companies – Plava laguna (4 applications), Maistra (7), Arenaturist (9), Istraturist (5), Borik (1), Hadria (1), Hoteli Pag (1), Hoteli Podgora (1), Hoteli Živogošće (1), and Vranjica Belvedere.
In addition to the total value of the sent invoices (22.24 million kuna), the Ministry adds that the individual amounts of these invoices range from around 200 thousand to 6 million kuna, and that the payment deadline for the full amount upon invoicing is 15 days.
They emphasize that the amounts on the issued invoices are only temporary concession fees, while the final amount of the concession fee will be defined after the concession agreement is concluded.
They also explain that issuing invoices to companies that submitted applications does not mean that all applicants have the right and conditions to obtain priority concessions based on the Law on Tourist Land, for example, in cases of subsidiary companies of firms that participated in the transformation and privatization process.

The maximum period for obtaining a concession for tourist land in camps is 50 years, and the final rights and obligations of all applicants for obtaining concessions in camps will be defined by future concession agreements, the Ministry emphasizes.
They also add that changes to the law on tourist land can be expected in the coming weeks, which they are working on in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice as the law’s proponent and the State Attorney’s Office.
These changes are expected to contribute to further significant investments, especially in camps.
