In a survey conducted with over 700 respondents, the portal MojPosao investigated what citizens most often do to facilitate their employment.
According to the survey results, 62 percent of respondents have resorted to some measure that would enable them to find employment more easily.
The largest group of respondents, 34 percent, chose additional education as a measure that would facilitate their employment. Respondents indicated that they have completed foreign language courses, an accounting course, a project management course funded by EU funds, and a postgraduate study.
Requalification was chosen by 16 percent of respondents, mainly because they believe that ‘their profession is not sufficiently in demand or valued.’ Some of the professions for which respondents have requalified include caregiver and welder.
The self-employment measure was a solution for 12 percent of respondents. These are respondents who believe that only self-employment offers them ‘a future and the possibility of a decent income.’
– “It is better to work for yourself 24 hours for a normal salary than for someone else 24 hours and fear whether you will be paid for the work done or not?” – one of the respondents’ opinions.
Almost one third of respondents (31 percent) only respond to job advertisements, meaning they do not resort to additional measures that would facilitate their employment. These are highly educated individuals or respondents who do not have the money for such measures.
– “With a completed university degree, already completed requalification, and a postgraduate degree that I will finish by the New Year, I am left with only responding to job competitions,” says one of the respondents, while another respondent concludes: “Unfortunately, I cannot afford requalification or additional education, just as I cannot afford self-employment. I would gladly pay for education or a course, but how, when I have no money?”
Six percent of respondents are not looking for work, and most of them are employed respondents.
