The Minister of Environmental Protection and Nature, Mihael Zmajlović, stated that he is subjected to numerous pressures and threats, but did not specify who is threatening him.
– It is a fact that there are significant interests and certain pressures, but my job is such, I accepted it and I knew what I was getting into. I did not come here to complain that I am being threatened, but I came to do my job – said the minister for Croatian Radio.
He asserted that this motivates him even more to solve problems, to set different rules that everyone must fit into regardless of what consequences it may have for individuals.
– As for, let’s say, the mafia, in all branches of the economy you have various anomalies that have not been addressed. It is not my job to investigate that now. That is the job of the police and other institutions. My job is to set clear rules of the game – he said.
He added that he would not want us to generalize and say that everyone dealing with waste is mafia, that they are people who earn money illegally, for the system that must function – which is waste management. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Nature, Dijana Sušac, stated for Hina that the minister stands behind everything he said for Croatian Radio. Mirela Holy, the predecessor of Minister Mihael Zmajlović, also claimed that she was threatened.
