Aleksandar Ljubić from the Serbian Ministry of Finance and Economy stated that the current demand for the Fiat 500L is very good, reports the b92 portal.
“This model is highly sought after in the market considering the crisis and the situation many car manufacturers are facing in the European Union market at this time,” said Ljubić. The company Fiat Automobili Srbija is 67% owned by Fiat, while 33% is held by Serbia.
Ljubić reminded that the Italian Fiat’s idea is to produce 30,000 Fiat 500L cars in Kragujevac by the end of this year and offer them in the market.
“During the next year, production should reach 160,000 vehicles, which represents 10% of the market for that segment of cars,” said Ljubić, emphasizing that next year production of another car model, which has seven seats, will also begin in Kragujevac. Ljubić highlights that it is important for the Serbian government that next year the export of cars ‘made in Serbia’ to America will resume, after a long period of time.
