The Municipality of Sibinj Has Its Account Blocked

The mayor of the municipality of Sibinj, Josip Pavić (HSP dr. Ante Starčević), stated today that due to the account blockage, nothing has been paid from the municipality’s account in the past eight months, as creditors are constantly seizing funds, employees are working without pay, phones are disconnected, and they do not have internet access.

Pavić made this statement during a joint visit to the locations of county roads with the governor of Brod-Posavina County, Danijel Marušić (HDZ).
– This year, 17.5 million kuna has been invested in works on county roads, of which 2 million kuna was invested by the county road administration, while the rest was provided by the Ministry of Transport and Communications – said Marušić during his visit to the construction site in Sibinj, adding that the reconstruction of the local section of the county road is worth 4 million kuna and that the support of the county due to the blockage of the municipal budget is extremely important.

Mayor Pavić assessed the investment as important because its value is equal to their annual budget and added that the municipality had previously prepared project documentation for this project; however, now even if they wanted to participate financially in the project, they cannot due to the budget blockage that has lasted for eight months.

He announced that the issue of the municipality’s functioning should be discussed with the Minister of Finance, Slavko Linić, in the coming days and reminded that the debts for unpaid bills in the past eight months amount to around 4.5 million kuna. He emphasized that they inherited six million kuna in debts from seizures without interest. 

– The total debt is now around 9 million kuna, and the interest on the seizures is high because, for example, when a seizure for an account of 400,000 kuna that has not been paid for three years is processed by FINA, a total of 717,000 kuna is deducted from the municipality’s account – said Pavić, expressing hope that new seizures on the municipal account will cease.
