BMW will recall 47,000 Series 7 vehicles manufactured between 2005 and 2008 to address a software error that may cause the cars to simply roll away after being stopped.
According to Reuters, the issue occurs in models equipped with a keyless entry system; after the driver shifts the gear lever to ‘Park’ and presses the button to turn off the car, it should remain parked. However, if the driver presses the same button multiple times, the transmission system shifts to ‘Neutral’.
BMW will notify owners of the issue this month, while the correction of the error will begin in the spring of next year.
