The Days of Croatian Insurance 2012 conference is being held from November 4 to 6 in Rovinj, organized by the Association of Insurers of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), and under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia, it was announced today by HGK.
The conference features domestic and foreign experts in the fields of insurance and reinsurance, regulators, supervisors, and other accompanying financial institutions. On Monday, the first working day of the conference, HANFA will present the state and changes in the insurance sector over the past ten years and introduce news related to Croatia’s accession to the European Union.
Health insurance is an important segment of the insurers’ business and the Croatian health system, and there will be a panel on the topic ‘Complementarity of State and Commercial Health Insurance’, which will discuss the guidelines for the development of the health system and the role of insurers within it.
A representative from the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and a guest from Slovenia will discuss the news regarding Solvency II in the EU and the role of strategic planning in Solvency II. The importance of life insurance in pension reform and forms of life insurance in retirement savings will be presented. There will be discussions on the news of the draft new Law on Mandatory Traffic Insurance and Slovenian experiences in the liberalization of the mandatory traffic insurance market.
The second day begins with a panel on ‘The Role of Social Media in Insurance’, where social media and communication experts, as well as corporate communication leaders in insurance and other financial institutions, will discuss the significance and necessity of social networks in insurance.
An interesting topic is ‘catastrophic damages’, which involve damages with significant human and material losses, often resulting from natural disasters caused by global warming, droughts, floods, earthquakes, and other calamities.
At the end of the second day, topics related to the legal aspect of insurance will be presented: ‘The Relationship between Insurance Users and Insurers in Life Insurance’, ‘The Role of Mediation in Building Trust between Insured and Insurers’, and ‘Damages in Insurance – AO in Light of the Republic of Croatia’s Accession to the EU’, HGK states.
