Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York who is currently grappling with the enormous consequences of the devastating Hurricane Sandy, endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for a second presidential term on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of Obama’s work in combating climate change.
– Our climate is changing – Bloomberg wrote in an article for Bloomberg View. He stated that the increase in extreme weather events around the world, one of which New York experienced this week, may or may not be a result of climate change. However, the possibility that climate change is responsible for this ‘should prompt all elected leaders to take action immediately,’ Bloomberg warned.
He assessed that Obama has taken important steps in the fight against climate change, while his Republican challenger Mitt Romney has changed his positions on climate compared to when he was governor of Massachusetts.
