Minister of Construction and Spatial Planning Ivan Vrdoljak presented the results of the implementation of the Law on the legalization of illegal construction.
In one month, the Ministry received 7,748 requests for legalization, which is 500 percent more than in previous periods. He also appealed to local governments to expedite the processes of receiving requests and issuing decisions. The minister stated that there will be no privileged individuals regarding demolitions. This continues and moves from the sea to Zagreb and the Zagreb County. No one will be amnestied; all those who built in the first round outside the construction zone after June 21, 2011, will not be amnestied, whether they are tycoons, Hollywood actors, or politicians, the minister Vrdoljak emphasized.
The assistant minister for inspection oversight, Davor Oršanić, stated that 209 illegally constructed buildings have been removed so far, with the majority being removed by the investors and owners themselves. Exactly 207 were removed by investors, while the construction inspection was forced to remove illegal buildings in two cases.
