There is unrest again at RIZ in Zagreb. After workers recently attempted to block the work of the new Supervisory Board protesting against its chairwoman Vesna Čizmar – now a complete turnaround.
Vesna Čizmar, against the will of the state she represents, has crossed to the other side, joined the union members, and through the Supervisory Board has toppled the Management she recently appointed. Security guards prevented workers from entering the factory – therefore, they decided to present their demands in front of the factory. They want worker ownership and to decide their own fate. They say they believe in the Management appointed by the Supervisory Board. They have also been supported by the Association of Defenders of RIZ Odašiljači, and they are seeking the Prime Minister’s support.
The newly appointed CEO Željko Marić was unable to enter the company and assume his duties even though the old Management was dismissed. As Marić stated, contracts with the security guards have also been revoked, however, they do not want to step down either. The dismissed CEO Kamilo Vrana rejects all accusations. He claims that this is an attempt at a violent and illegal dismissal of the Management, against the will and without the knowledge of the majority owner. At the end of the protest, the security guards allowed the workers into the factory premises to exit with their vehicles.
