Media reports that she will be the HNS candidate for mayor of Zagreb, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić, have amused her, writes tportal.
Namely, she stated for tportal that the coalition partners HNS and SDP are negotiating and want to assemble a good and strong team for the upcoming local elections so that ‘Zagreb is led by serious politicians, not populists and opportunists’ – Pusić said for tportal.
Jutarnji list reported today that HNS’s candidacy of Vesna Pusić threatens its coalition partner SDP, with which it does not have the best relations, and the campaign for local elections is heating up considerably.
– It is true that we are seriously considering that Vesna be our candidate for mayor of Zagreb – confirmed a source from the HNS leadership to Jutarnji, information that amused the Foreign Minister.
SDP recently nominated the head of the City Assembly of Zagreb, Davor Bernardić, as its candidate for mayor of Zagreb. However, he is not supported by HNS members who are very interested in jointly participating in the Zagreb elections with the social democrats. The story of Vesna Pusić as a potential mayor of Zagreb can therefore be understood as a populist response to the strongest Kukuriku partner in order to achieve the best possible positions ahead of the pre-election coalition for Zagreb, writes tportal.
