Damir Polančec has become the majority owner of Radio Drava, which has a concession for broadcasting programs in the Koprivnica-Križevci County.
Večernji list confirmed this with the previous owner, Vlado Pobi, who stated that he sold the radio due to the difficult economic situation and now intends to focus solely on his core business – construction. He did not wish to disclose how much he received for the station. Unofficially, an amount of around one million kuna is mentioned, according to Večernji.
Polančec is currently serving a nine-month prison sentence due to the Borovo case, and the sale was conducted through the company Irikon, whose formal owner is Polančec’s wife, and the company was established after the former Deputy Prime Minister was released from custody, where he was held for investigations related to ‘Operation Spice’. Irikon had revenues of 420,000 kuna last year and a loss of 400 kuna. Radio Drava, during the same period, had a revenue of 1.2 million kuna and a profit of around 20,000 kuna.
