Starting next year, city and compact class cars, which make up more than 70 percent of the total new car market in Croatia, will become cheaper, reports Večernji.hr.
As announced by Finance Minister Slavko Linić at the Lider conference ‘Day of Big Plans’, from January 1, excise duties on cars will be calculated based on the value of the car and carbon dioxide emissions, rather than just the value of the vehicle as before, with CO2 emissions being a more significant component. The final proposal for the law and the model for calculating excise duties is currently being finalized. It will be very similar to the Slovenian model, and smaller cars that are cheaper and less polluting will become cheaper.
