Prime Minister Zoran Milanović, on the second day of his working visit to Berlin, will meet with the President of the German Parliament, Norbert Lammert, who was the first to criticize Croatia following the European Commission’s monitoring report, stating that Croatia is clearly not yet ready.
However, Prime Minister Milanović stated yesterday in Berlin that everything that has happened in Germany in recent weeks regarding Croatia’s readiness to join the European Union is a storm in a teacup.
– I believe in Croatia and in what we have done – said Milanović, also adding that the New Year is the deadline by which 21 out of 27 countries could ratify the Croatian accession treaty.
The Croatian Prime Minister spoke at the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the German Committee for Economic Cooperation with Eastern Europe, about the historical ties between Croatia and Germany, as well as about the further process of European integration, which he called unstoppable.
Milanović also spoke about the turbulent times the European Union is going through and emphasized that it is today at a crossroads in European history. After the celebration, Chancellor Angela Merkel joined the participants at the ceremonial dinner.
