While many only look for ways to save on workers, Marko Pipunić, the owner of Osijek’s Žito, a company with over 1,000 employees, has opened a kind of spa center for his staff.
E Rejuvenation, where workers are massaged in leather chairs, served tea, and energized, has been located in the Management building. He did not want to disclose how much he invested in the project.
– I wanted my colleagues and workers to be happier. I could have bought a Ferrari, but only I could drive it. This is a Ferrari for everyone who is here because everyone is treated equally royally. Of course, not everyone can be at Rejuvenation all the time, but better some a few times than just me – explains Pipunić his reasons.
To make everything work, he also hired 12 new workers who will work in the center and will primarily relax the management, which is under greater stress. Aware that many will question his decision, Pipunić does not want to say how much he invested in the project and notes that he has made decisions in the past that were not understandable to everyone.
– This is an investment in the people who give Žito more than we asked for. They did not ask for it, but we are giving it to them anyway – says Pipunić, who has set one of his long-term goals for Žito to be the most desirable corporation to work for and presents his investment as a completely new corporate culture.
