Today, stagnation of the index is expected at the Zagreb Stock Exchange as there are currently no new news that could provide guidance to investors, and the focus of investors will still be on the shares of INA.
Of the 8 analysts from brokerage firms who participated in Hina’s survey, 6 expect stagnation of the Crobex today, while 2 expect an increase. The Crobex index rose by 1.63 percent last week, to 2,110 points, while Crobex10 increased by 1.42 percent, to 1,154 points. Both indices are at their highest levels since early May. Meanwhile, Crobex strengthened by 18.1 percent in December, and Crobex10 by 20.7 percent. Throughout the past year, Crobex rose by 5.3 percent, and Crobex10 by 9.5 percent. Regular trading amounted to 238.7 million kuna last week, which is about 94 million less than the week before.„Crobex ended the last week of 2010 in the positive, and it also achieved a gain of over 5 percent on an annual basis.
Although I expect stagnation of Crobex today, after the New Year’s holidays, I generally expect a continuation of positive trading in 2011 due to the anticipated recovery of the domestic economy after two years of declining activity“, says Sanja Perić, a broker at the investment company EA Sistem. Supporting the recovery is the estimate from the State Bureau of Statistics from Friday regarding the increase in retail trade turnover in November by 2.5 percent. This is significantly higher than the expectations of macroeconomists surveyed by Hina, who on average estimated its growth at 0.5 percent, marking the continuation of its recovery for the fifth consecutive month.
