The total number of employees in Croatian industry in November 2010 was 0.1 percent lower than in October, and on an annual basis, compared to November of the previous year, it decreased by 6 percent, according to the first results from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
At the same time, labor productivity in the industry in the first eleven months of last year increased by 6.1 percent compared to the same period the year before. Statistics by sector show that the number of employees in November 2010 compared to the same month of the previous year decreased the most in mining and quarrying, by 7.5 percent. In the manufacturing industry, there were 6.2 percent fewer employees in November than in the same month the year before, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, there were 1.7 percent fewer. Among the activities in the manufacturing industry, the number of employees in November last year compared to November 2009 fell the most in the production of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations, by 22.8 percent, and in textile production, by 17.8 percent.
