Production in the manufacturing industry in Croatia decreased by 0.4 percent in November compared to November of last year, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) on industrial production by activity.
The statistical office previously announced that total industrial production in Croatia increased by 0.2 percent in November this year compared to November last year, while in the first eleven months, it fell by 1.6 percent year-on-year. The overall trends in the industry are most influenced by developments in the manufacturing sector, and DZS data shows that production in the manufacturing industry in November was 0.4 percent lower than in November last year, and in the eleven months of this year, it decreased by 2.1 percent compared to the January-November period of last year. Seasonally adjusted data by activity shows a decline in industrial production in mining and quarrying, which fell by 8.1 percent in November this year compared to November last year, and by 9.8 percent in the eleven months.
In contrast, production growth is recorded in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, increasing by 8.1 percent in November this year compared to November 2009, and by 5.5 percent in the January-November period this year compared to the same period last year. DZS data shows that in several activities within the manufacturing industry, production in November fell at high rates year-on-year. For instance, in the production of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers, production in November this year was down by 30.9 percent compared to November last year. In wood processing, industrial production in November fell by 25.4 percent compared to the same month last year, and in the production of other means of transport, including shipbuilding, it decreased by 18.2 percent.
