Zvonko Pavić ICT Journalist of the Year

Today, at the premises of SAP, the journalism awards ‘SAP ICT journalist prize Božo Težak’ were presented. The Association of ICT Journalists of HND, which awards the prize for the ninth time, announced the best journalists and works for the year 2009.

Zvonko Pavić, an independent journalist – contributor to leading Croatian technology and business media, was named ICT Journalist of the Year. The recipient of the annual award in the category of best journalistic work is Dražen Tomić, a journalist at Business.hr, while Boris Radošević, founder and editor-in-chief of the internet portal Gadgeterija (www.gadgeterija.net), received the annual award in the category of best editorial work.

The ICT Journalists Association of the Croatian Journalists’ Society awarded ICT journalists for articles, contributions, and texts published in 2009, in the categories of best journalistic work and best editorial work. The journalistic and editorial works were evaluated by a jury consisting of: Marjan Jurleka, vice president of the Croatian Association of Newspaper Publishers at the Croatian Employers’ Association, last year’s winner Vlatko Jurić-Kokić, and Marko Biljan, representative of the sponsor of the award SAP ICT journalist prize Božo Težak.

The jury rated Dražen Tomić’s article “HT Acquires Combis”, published in the daily newspaper Business.hr, as the best journalistic work, while Gadgeterija.net, a website dedicated to high-tech devices and social networks, specifically the editorial work of Boris Radošević on Gadgeterija.net during 2009, was rated as the best editorial work.

The title of best ICT journalist, according to the votes of his colleagues, went to Zvonko Pavić, who stated: “In every job, including journalism, nothing can be achieved without a little ambition, diligence, and entrepreneurship. The SAP ICT Journalist Prize Božo Težak, awarded for excellence in ICT journalism, is a kind of measure that confirms this fact. The three of us who received it this year have our own mix of that recipe. However, the ratio of those ingredients is somewhat different for each of us.”

A new feature in the selection of awards for the best editorial and journalistic works is that all nominated works are available to the public on the Božo Težak award website (www.sapmag.com.hr/sapbozotezak). On the mentioned web destination, in addition to the works that competed for this year’s awards, the public can also access information about all previous award winners, as well as details about its history and about Professor Božo Težak, after whom the award is named. Following the trends of social networks, the award competition has also found its place on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

The Association of ICT Journalists of HND and SAP have been contributing to the importance of the work of journalists who focus on the themes of development, improvement, and popularization of information and communication technologies for nine consecutive years. Their continuous contribution ensures a more quality and competitive business operation for numerous companies in Croatia. Namely, until 2000, there was no way to comprehensively evaluate the work of individual journalists and media, often leaving top journalistic achievements in anonymity; therefore, SAP initiated the establishment of the ‘SAP e-journalist prize’ in 2001, according to the press release.
