The com.hr domain market is worth half a million kuna annually

A significant drop in the prices of com.hr domains in June 2010 prompted users not only to purchase domains but also to launch internet projects, thereby revitalizing the businesses of companies engaged in domain reselling, as well as hosting and web project development.

It is worth noting that domains for end users have decreased in price from 180 kuna annually to just 50 kuna annually. The number of newly registered domains has increased from approximately 150 domains per month to over 300. In June alone, when new rules and price reductions were introduced, nearly a thousand domains were sold. According to statistical indicators collected by WhoisHR, the com.hr domain market will continue to grow in 2011. With an average price of 49 kuna, thirteen registrars (companies authorized to resell domains by CARNET) generate annual revenues of half a million kuna. Considering the wholesale price of a domain, which is 20 kuna, profits range up to 200 thousand kuna. It is important to note that all owners of com.hr domains who registered them before June 2010, that is, through CARNET, must choose which registrar they wish to transfer their domain to by June 2011 at the latest (when they must renew them). Currently, there are approximately four thousand such domains, representing a significant market share that registrars must still compete for. (M.N.)
