We hope that politics will not ruin our ambitions regarding TE Plomin

The Rovinj Adris Group is interested in investing in a replacement power generation facility in Plomin and hopes that “the lamentable politicization of this project and pre-election squabbling will not ruin such ambitions,” stated the Adris Group in a statement released today regarding the project for the construction of a replacement power generation facility in Plomin.

With this statement, the Adris Group reacted to the articles "Jakovčić would give Plomin to Adris without a tender" and "Money reconciled opponents," which were published yesterday and today in Novi list and Glas Istre. "The ambition of the Adris Group is to invest in the energy sector, alongside its tobacco and tourism businesses, which we have discussed several times in the media. We have clearly stated that Adris, in accordance with its long-term strategy of investing in energy, is also interested in investing in a replacement power generation facility in Plomin. This is especially true as the local community and HEP, with public approval, welcomed such ambitions," the statement reads. The Adris Group also emphasizes that such positive reactions further obligate them to do everything possible to create new employment opportunities, especially for young and educated people, and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the system by providing their people with a vision of development and optimism. Collaboration between our company, the Istria County, and the Government of the Republic of Croatia is necessary as we are convinced that the investment plans of the Adris Group are in the interest of our employees, Istria County, and the national economy," emphasizes the Adris Group. They also remind that the Adris Group is a leading Istrian and one of the leading Croatian companies, employing 4,000 workers, generating revenue of over three billion kuna, contributing 12 million kuna daily to the state budget, and exporting more than 50 percent of its production. With annual investments of 600 million kuna, the Adris Group is one of the leading national investors, donating nearly one million euros annually through the Adris Foundation for knowledge, culture, and humanitarian purposes, the statement highlights, noting that employees of the Adris Group, former employees, and retirees of TDR still own more than 50 percent of the company. The Adris Group also reported today that their call for applications for the internship program "Future in Adris," which closed on December 20, received over 600 applications from young educated people from all over Croatia and various professions. A special commission will select the 50 best candidates by mid-January, who will then be invited for an interview, and the most successful will receive a paid one-year internship in the member companies of the Adris Group starting in March 2011.
