The government agency for the implementation of technology development support programs, BICRO, co-finances the ‘Flameblend’ project with just over 149 thousand euros, aimed at the development and design of functional yarns and fabrics with reduced flammability, which will be carried out over three years through tripartite cooperation between faculties and companies from Croatia, Slovenia, and Austria, BICRO reported.
The contract for this co-financing was signed today at BICRO as part of the Eureka program, which ensures funding for market-oriented development projects of international cooperation. The amount provided by BICRO constitutes 47 percent of the total funds for the Croatian part of the mentioned project, while the project partners are responsible for the remaining costs.
The Croatian partners in this project are the University of Zagreb and the Faculty of Textile Technology, as well as the Galeb Factory from Omiš, while the Slovenian side includes the University of Maribor and the company Beti Preja, and from Austria, the project includes Anton Paar GmbH. The project is expected to ensure quality development and objective evaluation of new products, covering products for underwear, fabrics for children’s items, as well as sports and recreation.
They also note that the functional so-called FR fabric is intended for the Croatian and regional markets as a competitive eco-innovative product with high added value and acceptable pricing. The products will be specifically aimed at the market segment that includes work protective clothing for the needs of firefighting, rescue services, the military, the oil and processing industry, and other sectors where there is an increased need for workplace protection.
